An original terra cotta urn painted gold from Pension Building and broken into two large pieces (base and bowl). |
Context |
This urn was discovered in the front yard of a townhouse in NW DC being used as a birdbath. It was then used to create a mold to cast the urns currently on the third floor of the Museum (Pension Building). This is the only original urn we have been able to locate. |
