World War II Memorial Bas Relief. Pacific Panel 10: Field Burial. Full scale. Depicts American soldiers performing a field burial for a fallen soldier among the battlefield crosses of their fellow fallen soldiers. Memorial markers were erected for fallen soldiers by placing their helmet on top of their upturned rifle stuck into the ground, known as a battlefield cross. |
